Most insurance companies cover sleep disorder testing. The Center will verify coverage and applicable fees before scheduling any overnight tests or procedures. |
How Does Overnight Testing Work?
Persons referred for testing will spend one night (sometimes more) in a specially designed "home-like" sleeping area for a procedure called a “polysomnogram.” Monitoring patches placed on the patient help in recording sleep pattern information such as eye movement, heart rate, brain waves, breathing and airflow. Not all sleep disorders require an overnight sleep study.
How are patients referred to the Sleep Center?
Patients are either self-referred or are referred by a primary care physician to receive a comprehensive consultation. This evaluation determines whether patients are scheduled overnight for further testing. Alternatively, a Primary Care Physician may request a PSG be performed. All tests are generally performed on an outpatient basis. Pre-authorization from the patient's insurance carrier should be obtained prior to being admitted for overnight testing.
