Results and Follow-up
For an Annual Screening Mammogram
This consists of two X-rays or views of each breast to detect suspicious or abnormal areas of breast tissue. If the exam is normal, a report will be available to your physician within 5-10 working days. If the radiologist identifies a suspicious area which needs additional evaluation, we will contact you for an additional appointment.
For a Diagnostic Mammogram
Several additional, specialized mammogram images will be obtained over the area of interest. These detailed images are detailed X-rays not routinely taken during the screening mammogram. The radiologist may recommend an ultrasound based on the diagnostic mammogram results. Results are given the same day, in the office.
After a Diagnosis
A cancer diagnosis is serious – and it can be frightening and confusing. There are countless questions, coupled with anxiety and a flood of technical information to absorb. The radiologist will personally call you to discuss the next steps, and our team is here to help guide you through this process.
